Wednesday, January 21 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm in the UCLA Math Sciences Building 7608
"The Student Collective Against Labor Exploitation (SCALE) will be hosting a documentary showing and discussion about Martin Luther King's last few years of his life. We believe that the best way to celebrate MLK's legacy is to understand what he was organizing around and what he was doing before he was tragically assassinated.
SCALE wishes to highlight his commitment to economic justice and anti-war efforts. We also want to stress his support for workers' rights to bridge the gap in analysis between racial and class struggle.
We will be presenting a one-hour long episode, "The Promised Land (1967-68)" from the Documentary Series "Eyes on the Prize." This episode highlights the last few years of Martin Luther King Jr.'s life, from his support of black sanitation workers in Memphis to the tragic Poor People's Campaign launched in the summer following his assassination.
Food and drinks will be provided. Vegan options will be available as well."
